Passionate About Inspiring Others

Our goal has always been to provide the community with fun climbing and fitness opportunities in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Steve has been involved in the fitness industry for 18 years, nutrition industry for 39 years, and athletics his whole life. Part of the Class of 1971 at New Bedford High School, Steve was an undefeated 3-time national champion in Track & Field, and a member of the New Bedford High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He received and athletic scholarship at Georgetown University. In 1972, as a freshman, Steve ran the 800m Olympic qualifying standard, although his career was later cut short due to a knee injury. Steve graduated with a degree from the School of Business.

Around the age of 30, Steve started climbing outdoors with his sister, Laura, who was dating an outdoor guide. He loved the sport from that first day. After visiting some of the existing rock climbing gyms around the country, he decided to try to build a better gym.

Steve broke ground for the New Bedford location in 2001,  across the street from his childhood residence. Steve wore many hats during the building phase: designer, engineer, certified welder, and foreman of his own construction crew. At the time of its opening in December of 2004, it was the largest indoor rock climbing gym in the united States. It is currently listed as the 3rd largest.
