Facility Rules

Rules for All of Our Guests

  • All climbers, belayers, and guests must check in at the front desk prior to entering the climbing area.
  • No one may enter the climbing area without a completed facility waiver on file, anyone under 18 must have a waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • No running or swinging from ropes.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children while in the facility.
  • Individuals must report any injury, including apparently minor incidents, to the front desk prior to leaving the facility.
  • Do not write on the walls or ceiling with chalk.
  • Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted in Carabiner’s. Climbing or belaying under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • Weapons of any kind, including pocket multipurpose utility knives, are not permitted on the premises.
  • Food, candy, and chewing gum are not allowed on the carpeted floors.

Rules for Climbers

  • Carabiner’s staff has the right to determine unsafe or inappropriate behavior and may revoke climbing or belaying privileges, either temporarily or permanently.
  • Climbers must be introduced to auto belays by a staff instructor prior to their first use.
  • Belay technique instruction may only be performed by Carabiner’s staff. Teaching, practicing, and refreshing of skills is not allowed.
  • Anyone belaying must first pass a belay test administered by Carabiner’s staff.
  • Anyone lead climbing or lead belaying must first pass a lead test administered by Carabiner’s staff.
  • No cell phones, electronic devices or cameras are allowed on the wall unless properly secured and approved by staff.
  • A proper double-check must be performed by two belay certified individuals before each climb. If your climber is not belay certified, seek out a certified adult or staff member for assistance.
  • Belayers must use a Petzl Grigri, no other belay device is allowed.
  • Harnesses must always be visible and should not be covered by any clothing.
  • Double-backing buckle harnesses must remain double-backed at all times.
  • No sitting or lying down while belaying.
  • Climb using only designated climbing holds and features. DO NOT under any circumstances touch, grab or step on exposed metal, lead climbing anchors, stairway guards, other ropes, or any other non-climbing fixture.
  • Belayers must belay from their UIAA-approved harness using a belay loop and not from a fixed anchor point, floor anchors may be used but as a back-up only.
