Carabiners Fairfield: ABS Regional Results
This past weekend our competitive climbing team participated in the first post-season competition of the American Bouldering Series (ABS) by USA Climbing.
The ABS New England West Regional Championship was held December 8, 2012 at Gravity Vault in Chatham, New Jersey and was host to competitive climbers from all over Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Climbers competed in two rounds of bouldering (climbing short, difficult walls without a rope using pads for protection), attempting to secure an invitation to the Divisional Championship (CT, NY, NJ, MA, VT, ME, NH, RI) in January which could qualify them to compete in the USA National Championships in Colorado early next year.
USA Climbing is the national governing body for competitive sport climbing in the United States and is working to secure competitive rock climbing in the Olympics in 2020.

We're all really proud of the hard work out team put in this season training, preparing and competing this bouldering season! We're especially psyched for the three teammates that qualified for the Divisional Championship in January and have a chance to move on to the USA Climbing National Championship in Colorado early next year.
Join us in congratulating these teammates on qualifying!
Rowen Villamil (Female Youth D Category) 1st Place overall
Katrin Degner (Female Youth D Category) 7st Place overall
Michael "Misha" Smith (Male Junior Category) 8th Place overall

Rowen and Katrin excited (and maybe a little surprised) after receiving results at last weekends Regional Championship in NJ.
We're really psyched about post season and can't wait to see what these kids can do! Join us in wishing them lots of luck and in congratulating the whole team for all their hard work so far this year.
